Concert-goers clash with police

Approximately 200 concert-goers from last night’s Rage Against the Machine concert at the Target Center organized themselves into a march down 7th Street in downtown Minneapolis, in defiance of Minneapolis Police. The march ended at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 7th Street when riot and bicycle police corralled around 50 marchers onto the curb and made arrests. Minnesota Public Radio reported that 102 total arrests were made in Minneapolis last night, at multiple locations. MORE »

Growing up in rural western Minnesota in the 1970’s, I enjoyed all the cultural benefits you would expect when living only minutes from Fargo, ND. I’m no music snob – I loved the classic rock that formed the soundtrack to my childhood but like Ian Dury said, “You’ll see glimpses.” It was Bowie, Alice Cooper and Cheap Trick that stood out. Rock-Tenn Public Meetings: September 6 and 15

Opportunities for citizen input on final recommendations for Rock-Tenn are coming up fast. The public comment period ends September 19 for written comments, with meetings held before then on Saturday, September 6 and Monda, September 15.

In addition to recommending biogas as the first choice for fuel, the Rock-Tenn Community Advisory Panel (RCAP) recommended a goal of zero waste for St. Paul, rejected any use of refused-derived fuel (RDF), and urged that the state change laws so that RDF cannot be classified as a renewable fuel.
